General Election 4th of July

A sodden Rishi Sunak announced to the throng of media yesterday that there will be a general election on the 4th of July.

His decision has blind-sided almost everyone.

The media report that many Tory MPs are spitting blood over this, and cannot fathom the reason for calling the election now; they brand him as "selfish".

It should be noted of course that these are the very same MPs who have been planning on an Autumn general election, and had been planning on using the coming months for their summer holidays and for arranging for jobs outside parliament when they lose their seats.

Meanwhile Nigel Farage has announced that he won't be leading Reform, nor will he be standing. Seemingly the chance of a job in the Trump administration is too big an opportunity to turn down, so he will spend the summer campaigning for Trump.

Election Likely In Second Half of Year - Or Is It?

Given that Sunak is prone to change his mind, I wouldn't set too much store by this!

Blimey!

What with this and Tom Watson standing down as Labour Deputy Leader and MP, it is clear that this election is unlike any other in recent times!

The tectonic plates are shifting.

Corbyn Advocates Culling of Billionaires

The politics of envy has always worked well for Labour.

However, if Corbyn does eliminate the billionaires living in the UK who gets their money?

- The poor and impoverished?

- No

The state!

General Election 12th December

After much unnecessary shenanigans, and changes of direction by various people and parties, Boris has got the election he desires for 12th December.

It will be a brutal battle, and Boris should be aware of the old adage be careful what you wish for.

Whatever the result, the UK will have a new government in place on Friday 13th December!

Election On

The Bill

The On/Off Election

The government failed to get a 2/3rds majority for a 12 December election last night.

Therefore today they are trying a again with a one line bill that just needs a simple majority.

Currently the dimwits in Parliament are arguing about whether it should be on the 9th, 11th or 12th.

Meanwhile the country continues to stagnate!

The "Coup" That Never Was - Boris To Call An Election

There has been much frothing of the mouth and general hysteria, both in cyberspace and in real life, about the recent prorogation of Parliament. Certain people, who should know better, would have us believe it was a coup.

Anyhoo, disregarding that hysterical nonsense, Boris has now shot that fox by stating the he will be tabling a motion today to call a general election.

Factoid: it can't be a coup if a general election takes place!

One amusing irony is that Corbyn (who called people to take to the streets to protest against the "coup") is now balking at the thought of a general election; and insists that legislation is first passed to guarantee that a no deal Brexit is blocked, before he will back an election.

General Election Coming

My spidey sense tells me that a general election is in the offing.

The question is, will it be held before or after 31 October?
