Boris's Arduous March
This afternoon Gove will announce 12 “missions” to save Britain’s “forgotten communities” — with a target that all 12 objectives will be achieved by 2030.
The message to voters and Tory MPs is that Boris is asking for a decade in power to achieve the aims of the 2019 manifesto, and keep the promises that saw him break down Labour’s red wall.
Ten year plans only work if:
1 The plans are good
2 The people implementing them are competent
3 The people implementing them are around for 10 years.

Boris Fails To Make The Headlines
Despite No 10 bigging up Boris's levelling up speech yesterday, and despite Boris discussing beheading poppies and spreading jam, the media didn't bite and the speech failed to hit the headlines.
The reasons?
1 The speech was flowery, but contained little to no substance.
2 It coincided with the salt tax report, which Boris publicaly disowned.
3 A cynic might think the bigging up of the speech was to cover up for the fact that Thursday might have been the day for a Downing Street reception for England.
Anyhoo, I dare say a few people will be demoted/fired for this damp squib and at some stage later some substantive policies might be announced.

Home Office Civil Servants To Move To Stoke
The Times reports that hundreds of Home Office civil servants will be moved to Stoke-on-Trent as part of a “levelling up” drive under which areas with poor schools will be prioritised for help.
Government departments are announcing initiatives worth up to £860 million as part of Boris Johnson’s aim to achieve tangible results for parts of the country that backed the Conservatives for the first time in the last general election.
A new tranche of civil service jobs will move away from London in line with the government’s commitment to move 22,000 civil service roles out of the southeast by 2030.
