Westminster's Bullying Culture

As per the report into bullying and harassment of MP's parliamentary staff by Gemma White QC:

"Some staff of Members of Parliament are subject to an unacceptable risk of bullying and harassment, including sexual harassment, at work. Most Members of Parliament treat their staff with dignity and respect but the problem of bullying and harassment is sufficiently widespread to require an urgent collective response."

“I just want to say that during my over-30-years’ association with the Houses of Parliament I did not encounter anything remotely like bullying and harassment on anyone’s part and have been very surprised to know it has happened.The MP I worked for I found extremely efficient, clever and a good employer in every way.”

Buckingham Palace vs The Palace of Westminster

It is ironic that it will cost a "mere" £150M to repair Buckingham Palace, yet the Palace of Westminster will cost around £7BN to repair.

Maybe our beloved MPs could come to a sharing arrangement with HM, and move in with her thus saving the country £7BN in repair bills?

Rename Bank Holidays - #bankersarentus

I am pleased to see that not all those inhabiting the PalArse have their heads up their bottoms.

My compliments to Lord McColl of Dulwich who has come up with a most excellent suggestion, that shows that he (a Peer no less) has his finger on the pulse of public opinion (more than those do in the lower house).

His suggestion?

To rename bank holidays.

For why?

"In view of the poor behaviour of the banks, could we consider changing the name bank holiday back to its original name - Lubbock days?" 

I for one would give him my vote, if it weren't for the fact he is in the House of Lords!

No, I have not skipped a few pages in my diary, I am merely following the example of our "respected" political elite who have risen from Westminster for the Easter recess (which will last three weeks).

Easter, for those who pay the politicians' wages (ie everyone else), is still ten days away!

Incidentally, in case you were wondering, Parliament will sit only 21 days during the next 75 days.
