The Ambassador's Cables - #CableGate
Sir Kim Darroch's secret cables to the Foreign Office, giving his views of the Trump administration, have been leaked en masse to a tabloid.
The contents of the cables are perfectly acceptable, as ambassadors are meant to report their views and opinions. However, what is not acceptable is the fact that these secret communications have leaked.
The questions are as follows:
1 Who leaked them?
2 Why are they leaked now?
3 What game is being played here?
The theories:
1 Trump leaked in order to remove Durroch and replace him with Farage.
2 A supporter of Farage in the FO leaked them, for the reason above.
3 Number 10 leaked them, in order to conduct a scorched earth policy and wreck any chances of the USA helping Britain with a fast track no deal Brexit trade agreement.
4 A foreign agency leaked them, just for fun.
5 Boris or an associate leaked them, in order to pave the way for Farage to be ambassador and seal an deal with the Brexit Party.
Anyone have any other theories?

Why Was Saj Off The Guest List?
Sajid Javid says he doesn't know why he wasn't invited to the Trump State Banquet earlier this month.

Tells @BBCr4today that his office asked No10 for an invite but "they said no."
"I don't like it, it is odd," he says.

Corbyn Plays The Fool
Jeremy Corbyn today will lead and speak at a demonstration against Donald Trump.
All very well and democratic, if you are in student politics or a junior backbencher. However, Corbyn is a salaried leader of Her Majesy's Opposition with ambitions to become Prime Minister.
Like it or not Trump was democratically elected by members of the public of our closest ally.

Sadiq the Terrible!
.@SadiqKhan, who by all accounts has done a terrible job as Mayor of London, has been foolishly “nasty” to the visiting President of the United States, by far the most important ally of the United Kingdom. He is a stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me......— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 3, 2019

Trump's Backing Boris
Trump is openly gunning for a no-deal Brexit and for a populist like Boris Johnson or Rees-Mogg to finish off Theresa May. This is full Bannonism. Not the behavior of an ally.— Edward Luce (@EdwardGLuce) November 26, 2018

Trump Endorses Boris For PM - With Friends Like These...
As per The Sun:
“He is a very talented guy. I was very saddened to see that he was leaving Government and I hope he goes back in at some point because… I think he is a great representative for your country. I think he’s got what it takes and I think he has got the right attitude to be a great Prime Minister.”

Trump Has Isolated Himself and His Country
Feels like a pivotal historic moment as MPs on all sides of the Commons line up to call Trump "stupid", "racist or incompetent", "fascist" and so on: consequences could be far-reaching.

The BBC is Evil and Corbyn Is Donald Trump
Jeremy Corbyn's brother, Piers, has come out swinging in the first day of the general election campaign.
He has called the BBC "evil", and described Jeremy as being like Donald Trump.
Usually, towards the end of a gruelling campaign, people and parties start to go mad. Labour has decided to start insane in the hope that they will be normal by the end of the campaign.
Good luck with that then!

The Establishment Doesn't Get It - Trump Is Not a Politician!
This is not normal. Every day @POTUS doing saying things that are not normal. We must resist normalisation of this https://t.co/v9vDXswZpd— Alastair Campbell (@campbellclaret) February 5, 2017
Until the "establishment" gets the fact that Trump is not a politician, they will never stand a chance of being able to try to deal with him.

You Say Teresa, I say Theresa - What's In a Name?
A wee snafu occurred in the "carefully" choreographed visit to the USA of Theresa May, when the White House issued a couple of press releases misspelling her name as "Teresa" (by happenstance the name of a UK glamour model).
Whilst all and sundry are quick to blame the new administration for the cock up, it is worth remembering that the US has form wrt cock ups such as this.
In 2009 Hillary Clinton gave Sergei Lavrov a mock "reset" button, symbolising US hopes to mend frayed ties with Moscow.
However, he said the word the Americans chose, "peregruzka", meant "overloaded" or "overcharged", rather than "reset".
Thus it is not just the new administration that is incompetent, but apparently parts of the American civil service that do the grunt work for the administration of the time.
Name tags all round!

#PissGate - People In Glass Houses
As British political establishment amuses itself with the #Pissgate scandal across the pond it should bear in mind that some within the British establishment have had/continue to have their own "idiosyncrasies" eg:
- rent boys
- drugs
- crapping on rent boys
- associating with known criminals
- hookers
- #PigGate etc etc
People in glass houses etc!
