You Say Teresa, I say Theresa - What's In a Name?

A wee snafu occurred in the "carefully" choreographed visit to the USA of Theresa May, when the White House issued a couple of press releases misspelling her name as "Teresa" (by happenstance the name of a UK glamour model).

Whilst all and sundry are quick to blame the new administration for the cock up, it is worth remembering that the US has form wrt cock ups such as this.

In 2009 Hillary Clinton gave Sergei Lavrov a mock "reset" button, symbolising US hopes to mend frayed ties with Moscow.

However, he said the word the Americans chose, "peregruzka", meant "overloaded" or "overcharged", rather than "reset".

Thus it is not just the new administration that is incompetent, but apparently parts of the American civil service that do the grunt work for the administration of the time.

Name tags all round!

Another False Hope Shattered - White Paper Ruse

The announcement also wrong footed Corbyn, a double whammy by May!

The Supreme Court Brexit Ruling - A False Hope

The Supreme Court has rules that Parliament must vote on whether the government can start the Brexit process and trigger Article 50.

The Remain camp is flush with the sense of "victory", yet their flush will not last long as this is nothing more than a false hope.

The court has also ruled the Scottish Parliament and Welsh and Northern Ireland assemblies did not need a say. A clear victory for Brexit, as the devolved governments won't be able to derail the process.

Additionally, it should be noted that the court stayed well clear of giving a ruling on whether Brexit should go ahead.

Brexit Secretary David Davis has promised a parliamentary bill "within days" (quite possibly tomorrow), and that bill will be a bare bones simple bill indeed. It is expected to be passed by the Commons within a fortnight.

Theresa May has also brought forward her deadline for triggering A50 to mid March.

Like it or not Brexit will occur, as per the wish of the British people, irrespective of law suits and whinging by those who didn't muster enough support to remain in the EU!
