The Pigs Win - Expense Records Destroyed

In a display of arrogance and disdain for the voters, Bercow's office has destroyed paperwork relating to MPs' expense claims made before 2010. The excuse being that the destruction was necessary to comply with data protection laws.

Unsurprisingly, this means that those MPs accused of abusing the expenses system will escape official investigation.

How "ironic"!

Congratulations To The Department for Transport

My sincere congratulations to the ever "efficient" Department for Transport for cocking up the West Coast rail bid.

Funny that the DfT released news of its abject failure at 1:00am!

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has put the whole contract out to bid again:

“Because of deeply regrettable and completely unacceptable mistakes made by my department in the way it managed the process”. 

To be honest the DfT has done the whole nation a service, and should be congratulated, for it has proven that governments cannot be trusted to manage/run the train network; ie nationalisation quite clearly will not work!

Such a "pity" that it has cost us, the taxpayers, £40M to prove that point!

The Joy of Cover Ups - UKBA Hides Its Shame

As loyal readers know, cover ups are the politicians' "go to" tool when the shit hits the fan.

However, it is not just elected politicians who practise the dark arts of cover ups, but also their government agency appointees.

Step forward Marc Owen, the director of UKBA operations at Heathrow, who has made a complete fuck up of his attempts to conduct a cover up over the clusterfuck that is Heathrow's arrivals' processing.

Given that the entire world's attention will be focussed on the UK during the Olympics, Owen will learn that his political masters will not tolerate being blamed for this clusterfuck and will want the problem resolved and/or his head on a platter.
