Starmer is very sensitive about being asked what he and his government is up to, as such it should come as no surprise at all that he is trying to stop FOI requests.
This is being accomplished in two ways:
1 The government's propaganda and nudge unit (ie the BBC) has, in The Capture, portrayed a male who submitted a mere 9 FOI requests as being a right wing extremist.
2 The government is claiming that China is carrying out a large scale espionage exercise via FOI requests. This of course is nonsense, as China has already compromised parliament and our comms systems.
