General Election 4th of July

 

A sodden Rishi Sunak announced to the throng of media yesterday that there will be a general election on the 4th of July.

His decision has blind-sided almost everyone.

The media report that many Tory MPs are spitting blood over this, and cannot fathom the reason for calling the election now; they brand him as "selfish". 

It should be noted of course that these are the very same MPs who have been planning on an Autumn general election, and had been planning on using the coming months for their summer holidays and for arranging for jobs outside parliament when they lose their seats.

Meanwhile Nigel Farage has announced that he won't be leading Reform, nor will he be standing. Seemingly the chance of a job in the Trump administration is too big an opportunity to turn down, so he will spend the summer campaigning for Trump.

Belt Up Rishi!

 

Following Rishi's beltless video yesterday,  Lancashire police said: 

“We are aware of the matter and we will be looking into it.” 

One would have thought that they had more important crimes to fuss about!

However, the offence can be punished with a fine of up to £500, and if Sunak is charged it would be his second after the Met sanctioned him for eating cake.That would mean that he would have more fines than Boris!

Boris Backs Kwasi

 

Despite the media hysteria over Boris having a short holiday, it seems that Number 10 can still function with him being in Spain. The same hysterical media are reporting the Boris has backed Kwasi, in his battle with Rishi over bailouts for energy intensive industries.

Now whilst in the short term this, if it goes ahead, may provide a feel good factor there are a few uncomfortable questions:

1 Why did these industries not hedge against rising energy prices?

2 Are we sure that they have no other means of funding there energy bills (eg cut dividends, borrow)?

3 Is it now the norm for businesses, so used to Covid handouts, to run bleating to the government everytime something goes wrong?

4 How much extra tax will we be forced to fork out to save these companies?

What Happened To Rishi's Letter? - #LetterGate

 

As the media try to stoke up tensions between Boris and Rishi over the letter that Rishi sent Boris wrt Covid restrictions on travel, the real issue that has not been satisfactorily explained is why the hell did Boris only learn about the letter from the media?

Had an official really forgotten to tell Boris that Rishi had written to him, or had the official deliberately withheld the letter, or had Boris simply not opened his red box?

We will never know the truth!
