2024 is Not Good Enough Saj!

Sajid Javid has laid bare the paucity of the plans to eliminate the NHS Covid backlog (despite the NI rise in April), apparently the backlog will continue to rise and won't peak until 2024!

There are many questions arising from this including, but not limited to:

1 What is the point of raising takes if the money is going to be wasted on a half baked plan?

2 Why is the plan so shit?

The fundamental problem facing both the Tories and Labour is that the NHS simply isn't working as effectively as other health systems.

Both parties are trapped by the myopia that the NHS is the only system that they can work with.

The Tories because if they touch it they will be accused of privatising it, and Labour because it is their baby and they are ideologically incapable of ever admitting it is now past its sell by date!

Rabble Harass Starmer and Lammy

Outside parliament just after 17:00 yesterday, Starmer and Lammy were swarmed by a group of aggressive protesters whose main gripe appeared to be about COVID vaccines and restrictions.

The Sun’s Jack Elsom was an eyewitness and says he heard some of the group shouting about Savile, before Starmer and Lammy were put in a police car as protesters scrapped with the cops.

Videos posted on Twitter showed unhinged members of the crowd ranting at an undeterred Starmer about “freemasons” and the “new world order,” calling him a “traitor” and a “paedophile protector.”

The Mirror’s Rachel Wearmouth reports the group was carrying a noose.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: “A man and a woman were arrested at the scene for assault of an emergency worker after a traffic cone was thrown at a police officer.”

Certain sections of the media, for reasons best know to themselves, focussed purely on the Savile abuse.

Carrie Antoinette - The Dangers of Cake

Carrie Johnson has taken a severe beating in the press over the weekend, probably in part somewhat unfairly, and will doubtless be dumped upon again by Cummings in his substack expected later today.

She is not the first spouse of a world leader to be vilified. However, aside from Marie Antoinette, she is one of the rare ones to have been brought down by cake.

That being said, Boris's troubles are of his own making (irrespective of whether Carrie tries to interfere or not). As such the media should concentrate on the key issues that are important, eg inflation, energy, NHS backlog etc.

Boris Channels His Inner Macmillan

Despite seeing himself as Churchill, Boris has in fact emulated Macmillan by overseeing the rout of four senior staff yesterday and preparing for a long weekend of bloody assassinations over the next 48 hours or so.

Whether this will work or not remains to be seen.

Boris's Arduous March

This afternoon Gove will announce 12 “missions” to save Britain’s “forgotten communities” — with a target that all 12 objectives will be achieved by 2030.

The message to voters and Tory MPs is that Boris is asking for a decade in power to achieve the aims of the 2019 manifesto, and keep the promises that saw him break down Labour’s red wall.

Ten year plans only work if:

1 The plans are good

2 The people implementing them are competent

3 The people implementing them are around for 10 years.

The Moving Finger Writes

Sue Gray's "Update" has provided Boris with a small amount of breathing space.

Whilst he can probably get away with "gatherings" in the garden and the offices of Number 10, it will be a remarkable greasing of the pig if he can get away with attending Carrie's alleged "gatherings" in the private flat above Number 10.

Thus he and the rest of us will have to wait until Dame Dick's colleagues finish their investigations, and Sue Gray can publish her full report...unless of course photos emerge in the meantime of Boris at an alleged Carrie private "gathering".
